About VWU

Traditions

Virginia Wesleyan's Monumental Chapel and its adjacent Frank E. Brown Campanile, known to many as simply "The Bell Tower," are landmarks on campus. They not only symbolize VWU's United Methodist heritage, but for many, they visually represent the passion of those who laid this institution's foundation and the progress of those who have earned their education within its classrooms. The Bell Tower plays musical selections including the Virginia Wesleyan fight song, "On, Virginia Wesleyan!" at noon, followed by the Alma Mater at 5 p.m. Both compositions are designed to invoke a strong sense of pride and belonging for Virginia Wesleyan students, alumni, staff, faculty and extended family.
