Geography, while not a stand-alone department, supports majors in history and social studies as well as elementary and social science teacher certifications.

Physical Geography (GEOG 111) is a course taught in four major units and focuses on the physical processes of the earth. Cultural Geography (GEOG 112) focuses on how geography affects culture and how culture affect geography. Both courses are in line with the degree requirements for Virginia Wesleyan University and the regulations for teacher licensure for the State of Virginia.
