Director of Annual Giving

Virginia Wesleyan University is accepting applications for a Director of Annual Giving.

The Director of Annual Giving plans, executes and evaluates advancement campaigns that secure moderate level gifts from alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff, and students for The Excellence Fund, Virginia Wesleyan University’s unrestricted giving fund. The Director of Annual Giving manages all components of campus-based fundraising initiatives and Advancement’s direct mail, electronic and phone campaigns for The Excellence Fund.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Creates and manages all direct mail, electronic, and telephone solicitation campaign components of The Excellence Fund, including Constant Contact for emails and Mongoose Cadence for texting.
  • Develops the timelines, execution strategies, and evaluation procedures for face to face, direct mail, electronic, and telephone appeals for the fall and spring Day of Giving campaigns.
  • Leads the Marlin Family Campaign for Faculty and Staff each fall by developing case statements and recruiting/training campus campaign ambassadors.
  • Oversees the Marlin Athletics Fund and collaborates with the Executive Director of Athletics and the Assistant Athletic Director for Advancement to meet the fund’s unrestricted annual goals through donor solicitation and the Banner Sponsorship Program.
  • Maintains and publishes all University giving honor rolls (The Excellence Fund, The Wesleyan Society, Marlin Athletic Fund, etc.).
  • Shares the ongoing responsibility to increase the percentage of alumni donors to VWU with the Director of Parent and Alumni Engagement.
  • Manages data integrity and accuracy of data in relation to all executed campaigns.
  • In collaboration with the University’s Marketing and Communication department, develops and maintains a media plan of action for all annual giving programs.

Qualifications

  • Education- Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Licensure/Certification- None.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of fundraising, telemarketing, and/or direct-mail experience, preferably in a higher education or non-profit setting.
