Research & Instruction Librarian
VIRGINIA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY (www.vwu.edu) invites applications for the position of Research & Instruction Librarian with primary responsibilities for research and information literacy instruction and managing the library’s outreach, marketing, and assessment efforts. This position is a full-time, 12-month exempt position with faculty status reporting directly to the Head Librarian of the Hofheimer Library. An ALA-accredited Master’s in library or information science is required. Candidates should demonstrate experience working with students from diverse backgrounds. The start date is July 1, 2023.
Essential Duties:
- Design and deliver library instruction.
- Coordinate instruction program initiatives.
- Provide assistance to students, faculty, and staff in the use of library resources.
- Manage library programming, marketing, and assessment of the user experience.
- Serve as liaison to academic programs in the Susan S. Goode School of Arts & Humanities.
- Participate in developing the library collection to meet the needs of the curriculum.
Requirements:
- MLS/MIS from an ALA-accredited program.
- 1-3 years experience in library instruction, research assistance, library marketing, and assessment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Attention to detail.

- Academic library experience is preferred.
