Malcolm Lively, PhD, Associate Professor of Education/Reading and Director of the Education Program, completed his PhD in reading education at The University of Georgia under the guidance of the Dr. David Hayes and the late Dr. Steven Stahl. Dr. Lively teaches a number of courses at VWC, including EDUC 319--Content Area Reading and Writing, EDUC 321--Language Acquisition and Assessment, and the senior integrative course, Issues in Education (INST 482). Research interests currently include examining the role of technology in transforming teaching and learning, and improving the preparation of teachers. Dr. Lively is an avid cyclist and is often found riding around Hampton Roads with his fellow cyclists from Tripower Cycling and Bike Beat, and attacking the mountains in West Virginia from his family farm.
