Quality Enhancement Plan
The Quality Enhancement Plan for Virginia Wesleyan University
Virginia Wesleyan's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), entitled See Change -- Sea Change, provides students with opportunities to participate in experiential learning through:
Virginia Wesleyan integrates experiential learning comprehensively into the curriculum in order to improve student learning and student engagement.
Why is the QEP called See Change -- Sea Change?
This QEP seeks to help students to see pathways to change in order to realize a sea change in their own lives. In other words, by participating in internships, study away, and undergraduate research, students will see new opportunities for their lives. As a result, they will be transformed -- they will realize a personal sea change that will set them on new exciting courses.
The world awaits you! The first step is to see the possibilities.
Purpose of the QEP
The purpose of See Change -- Sea Change is to create a more cohesive curriculum that integrates experiential learning activities into a rigorous course of study grounded in the liberal arts. With this QEP, Virginia Wesleyan endeavors to improve student learning and student engagement by offering students opportunities to engage in experiential learning.
See Change -- Sea Change will help students prepare for and undertake an internship, study away, or research experience. We will do this in three key ways:
- Provide students with more financial support
- Provide students with instruction as they prepare for and participate in these experiences
- Provide students with administrative assistance to complete the necessary requirements and paperwork
The financial, instructional, and administrative support is coordinated by the new The Lighthouse: Center for Exploration & Discovery, located on the first floor of Clarke Hall.
