Abstract

The CS-489 project we developed is called FitGuideDU. The FitGuideDU is a DUal-purpose Web-based program using PHP, HTML, CSS and MySQL. PHP is a server-side script used for web development use. HTML stands for Hyper Test Markup Language. HTML describes the structure of Web pages. HTML elements are the building blocks of HTML pages and the elements are represented by tags such as \"heading\", \"paragraph\", \"table\", \"title\", and so on. Browsers do not display the HTML tags but use them to render the content of the page. CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets used for describing the presentation of a document written in a markup language. The language is used most for an entertaining and visually engaging appearance of websites. MySQL is an open source relational database management system. It is written in C and C++. MySQL is the standard for language for creating and accessing databases. The first purpose of this program is to provide the User, such as, a member of fitness club, with a Fitness Guide specially designed for type of muscle that user wants to build. The second purpose of this program is to provide the Administration, such as, Fitness center, with information of type of muscles that users want to build in relation to their age, gender and physical conditions (weight and height). This information can Guide the Administration (fitness center) to wisely spend their money on purchasing/upgrading their equipment to better satisfy the member\'s needs.
