Education Policy Development

Educational organizations and governmental agencies are in need of leaders in the field of education. There are hundreds of educational organizations across the United States who drive innovation and reform in education. This program encourages students to get to know and become active members in educational organizations and governmental agencies that fit their goals. The M.Ed. provides the skills and knowledge needed to take leadership positions in educational organizations and governmental agencies related to education and education policy development.

Corporate or Educational Trainers

All companies and organizations desire master educators to train their trainers and their employees. Besides positions in public and private schools the M.Ed. provides graduates the knowledge and skills to land jobs as Corporate Trainers, Education Directors, HR Learning and Development Specialists, Non-profits, Curriculum Writers, Educational Product Sales or Trainers, and Higher education instructors.

School Leadership Positions

The leadership needs of a grade level, a school, a district, or of larger educational entities are as complex, fluid, and as varied as educators' strengths and interests. Unlike typical graduate education programs that force candidates to take courses in a niche area, the VWU M.Ed. in Teacher Leadership allows candidates to capitalize on their individual strengths and interests to choose a leadership focus that benefits their particular context. Graduates of the M.Ed. program position themselves to become leaders within their schools and districts. Possible positions include becoming the Chair of a department, the School Point of Contact in a content area, Instructional Leaders, Education Grant Writers, Mentor Teachers, Teacher Trainers, Instructional Specialists, and Instructional Designers.

Why Study Online?

Learning online is different from working in a classroom setting. Here's what you can expect.

Structure Your Week

You have control over when you work on your online degree. You'll probably spend between 18 and 24 hours per week on coursework in order to complete your degree in as little as 16 months.

Talk to Your Instructor

You have access to your instructor when you need help, via Blackboard. Your online instructors will let you know when they’re available to answer your questions, help you through difficult tasks and point you in the right direction.

Work With Classmates

Just because you’re learning from home doesn’t mean you’re on your own. Other students will be participating in your class discussions, and you can connect with them on Blackboard when you need to. Your fellow classmates can be a great source of ideas and understanding.
