NORFOLK/VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA
SEPTEMBER 2016

During my State of the College Address on August 23, I announced a series of changes that elevate Virginia Wesleyan's academic program. At the top of the list was the introduction of the Batten Honors College, named for VWC Trustee Emerita Jane P. Batten (front center) and her late husband, Frank Batten, Sr. I shared an additional unprecedented transformation--the structuring of Virginia Wesleyan's academic divisions. The College now consists of three schools devoted to specific areas of study: the Susan S. Goode School of Arts and Humanities, the Joan P. Brock School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and the Birdsong School of Social Science. Each school honors longtime VWC supporters, each of whom has served in various capacities on our Board of Trustees, including Susan Goode (front left), Joan Brock (front right), and George and Sue Birdsong (back).
