Betty Crocker and the Business of Blindness: Gender, Disability, and Post-World War II Consumer Culture

In celebration of Women's History Month, Virginia Wesleyan will welcome Dr. Laura Puaca, Associate Professor of History and Director of Women and Gender Studies at Christopher Newport University, to campus on Thursday, March 3 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the Susan S. Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center. Dr. Puaca will share her ongoing research, which lies at the intersection of women’s history and disability history, with a talk titled, “Betty Crocker and the Business of Blindness: Gender, Disability, and Post-World War II Consumer Culture.” Hosted by the Departments of Women's & Gender Studies and History and the Office of Gender and Sexuality Equity. 6:00 p.m.

Baccalaureate will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13 in the Joan and Macon Brock Theatre of the Susan S. Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center. A preludial concert by Wesleyan Vox Vera will take place at 5:30 p.m. This service of worship is held in celebration of and thanksgiving for lives dedicated to learning and wisdom.

Commencement Ceremony 2022

University Commons, Greer Environmental Sciences Center

10:00 a.m.

The Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2022 is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, on the lawn in front of the Greer Environmental Sciences Center (weather permitting). The University will adapt the format of the ceremony should the need arise due to the pandemic.
