Commencement Ceremonies

Virginia Wesleyan University's annual Commencement Ceremonies are held at the end of spring semester. These ceremonies bring the University community together to recognize and celebrate graduating students and to mark the achievement of degrees. Due to COVID-19, the May 2020 ceremony was postponed until December 2020.

2020 Commencement Ceremonies

In keeping with the Governor's order of gatherings no larger than 250 people (or 50% of room capacity), the University will hold five Commencement ceremonies, one for each academic school of Virginia Wesleyan University. Graduates and their guests are welcome to return to VWU for the appropriate in-person ceremony.

All ceremonies will be held on the Virginia Wesleyan University campus in either TowneBank Arena in the Jane P. Batten Student Center or the Joan and Macon Brock Theatre in the Susan S. Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center. The location for each ceremony will be confirmed once the number of graduates attending is confirmed. Please check back for updates.

If you do not know which academic school your major belongs to, please see the school organization chart.

For us to safely plan for each ceremony, each graduate needs to state his/her/their intention to attend in-person by completing this form by October 16. Due to COVID restrictions, those that do not RSVP will not be able to participate.
