VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads To Host Annual Family Volunteer Day at VWU on November 23

University News | November 7, 2019

VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads (VHR) will connect local businesses and families for a day of service at Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, November 23, from 9 a.m.-noon. The 21st annual Family Volunteer Day is a national day of service that will provide opportunities for 500 local volunteers of all ages to work together to complete projects that benefit nine area nonprofits.

One of Virginia Wesleyan’s valued partners, VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads moved its entire operations to the campus of VWU in July. Their main office, now in Allen Village, has expanded VHR's connections on campus and strengthened  its partnership with the University.

During this year’s Family Volunteer Day, volunteers will engage in projects that benefit the communities served by the following nonprofits: Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve, Kennedy’s Angel Gowns, LGBT Life Center, Norfolk Botanical Garden, Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia, Sinkinson Dyslexia Foundation, Veteran’s HomeFront, Virginia Beach SPCA, and YWCA of South Hampton Roads. Through sponsorships from local businesses these projects are completed at no cost to the benefiting nonprofits. To volunteer, sign up for one of these service projects online.

For updates and announcements about Family Volunteer Day, join Volunteer Hampton Roads’ email list, or follow them on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn.

The mission of VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads is to CONNECT businesses with opportunities which create a positive impact on our community; to EQUIP nonprofits with the resources they need to achieve their mission; to MOBILIZE a community of volunteers to create change.
