Inspiring Marlin Business Conference Features Celebrated Entrepreneur and Philanthropist Dr. Angela Reddix

Three-time best-selling author and 2021 Ebony Power 100 Entrepreneur & Innovative Leader Honoree inspires next generation of entrepreneurs

Virginia Wesleyan University's Marlin Business Conference, a bi-annual, student-led event, welcomed entrepreneur and philanthropist Dr. Angela Reddix as the keynote speaker at its opening ceremony. Dr. Reddix, a three-time best-selling author and 2021 Ebony Power 100 Entrepreneur & Innovative Leader Honoree, shared her insights and experiences, inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs.               

The Marlin Business Conference, held from November 13-16, is an initiative of the university's "Principles of Management" course, led by Lecturer of Management, Business, and Economics, Frank Futyma. Students in the course are responsible for planning and organizing the entire event, gaining hands-on experience in key management skills like product development, networking, project management, and financial planning.

"Having Dr. Reddix as our keynote speaker was an incredible opportunity for our students," said Emily Moody, student CEO of the conference. "Her journey as an entrepreneur and her commitment to mentorship align perfectly with the goals of our conference."

Dr. Reddix, the founder of ARDX®, a successful professional services management and consulting firm, is known for her motivational speaking and advocacy for entrepreneurship as a transformative force. Her book, "Envision Lead Grow – Releasing the Boss Within™," is a testament to her dedication to mentoring young girls and coaching aspiring entrepreneurs.

"Dr. Reddix's presence at the conference has been a source of great inspiration and motivation for our students," commented Frank Futyma, faculty advisor to the conference. "Her experience and insights are invaluable in guiding our future business leaders."

The conference includes a series of free workshops, presentations, and interactive panels, inviting community members to engage with students and professionals alike. This event not only showcases the talents and hard work of Virginia Wesleyan University students but also serves as a platform for meaningful dialogue and learning in the field of business and entrepreneurship.
