Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Va. â€" Described by Opera News as being a voice †blessed with freshness,†Tenor Michael Dailey †01 will be the featured soloist at Virginia Wesleyan College†s 41st Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 15.
Currently a member of Opera San José, Dailey will sing †Nessun dorma†from Turandot by Giacomo Puccini, followed by †Make Them Hear You,†from the musical Ragtime by Stephen Flaherty.
Dailey recently returned from Vienna where he performed with the prestigious Theater an der Wien. He has also performed with the Portland Opera to Go, New York Harlem Production Company, Tri-Cities Opera, South Valley Symphony, Virginia Opera, Virginia Beach Symphony Orchestra, Virginia Chorale, as well as a European tour of six countries. He has also been a featured soloist with the Virginia Choral Society and Todi Music Festival.
†Michael Dailey embodies the essence of a liberal arts education,†said Professor of Music and Artist-in-Residence Ms. Lee Jordan-Anders. †He came to Virginia Wesleyan naïve, undisciplined, unsure about his future, but curious and with a gorgeous singing voice. He†s living his dream and his passion, and the education afforded him at Virginia Wesleyan helped to make that possible.â€
The Eastern Virginia Brass will also play †America the Beautiful†and the Alma Mater at Commencement.
