Jody M. Wagner Joins VWU Board of Trustees

Former Virginia Secretary of Finance has distinguished history of public service

Virginia Wesleyan University proudly welcomes Jody M. Wagner to its esteemed Board of Trustees. Wagner brings a wealth of expertise in finance, government, and community leadership to the university.

Wagner, currently serving as Founder and President of Jody’s Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of gourmet popcorn, has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to public service and higher education. Her extensive professional background includes serving as Secretary of Finance for the Commonwealth of Virginia, where she played a pivotal role in managing the state's finances, overseeing budget development, and maintaining Virginia's AAA bond rating.

"We are thrilled to have Jody Wagner join our Board of Trustees," said Jonathan E. Pruden, Chair of the Virginia Wesleyan University Board of Trustees. "Her remarkable leadership experience and dedication to excellence will undoubtedly enrich our institution and help guide us towards continued success."

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Wagner has been actively involved in various civic and community organizations, many focused on education, including the Virginia Public School Authority, Virginia College Building Authority, Virginia College Savings Plan, Commonwealth of Virginia Joint Subcommittee Study on Science and Technology Education, Tidewater Jewish Foundation, and Hampton Roads Community Foundation.

"I am honored to join the Virginia Wesleyan University Board of Trustees," said Wagner. "I look forward to collaborating with fellow trustees, faculty, staff, and students to advance the university's mission of providing a transformative educational experience."

Wagner holds a Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Northwestern University.
