Fifty-four Marlins who work hard in the classroom and play hard with their teams will be recognized during halftime of the men’s basketball game on Saturday, Dec. 5.
Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Va. – Virginia Wesleyan College will honor spring 2009 Dean’s List student-athletes on Saturday, Dec. 5, during halftime of the Marlins men’s basketball game in the Convocation Center of the Jane P. Batten Student Center. Tipoff is at 2 p.m.
A total of 54 Virginia Wesleyan student-athletes will be recognized for their hard work in the classroom and with their teams. These students are a member of at least one NCAA Division III athletic team at Virginia Wesleyan and have a Grade Point Average of at least 3.5. During the event, students will receive a certificate from the College signed by President Billy Greer, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Timothy O’Rourke and Athletic Director Joanne Renn.
“At Virginia Wesleyan, we recognize that our athletes are students first,” said Renn. “This diverse group represents Virginia Wesleyan’s well-trained, well-coached, well-disciplined and well-rounded athletes, which are scholars in the classroom and outstanding athletes in their respective sports.”
