Virginia Wesleyan Earns Military Friendly School Designation

The University is recognized at the gold level for its leading programs and practices for military and veteran students

University News | March 7, 2023

Virginia Wesleyan University has earned the 2023-2024 Military Friendly Schools Gold awards level designation, recognizing its leading practices, outcomes, and effective programs for military and veteran students.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly Schools designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Over 1,800 schools participated in the most recent survey, and 665 schools earned awards level designations in Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for Student Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Loan Repayment, Persistence (Degree Advancement or Transfer) and Loan Default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.

The Military Friendly Schools survey is the longest-running, most comprehensive review of college and university investments in serving military and veteran students. The 2023-2024 Military Friendly Schools list is more exclusive than ever, the organization says, and covers institutions offering certificate programs to doctoral degrees.
