Scholarship Sharing, a nonprofit dedicated to connecting Virginia students to resources for funding higher education, will host its 2019 Scholarship & College Fair at Virginia Wesleyan University on Saturday, September 21, from 12-4 p.m. in the Jane P. Batten Student Center.

Students of all ages—including high schoolers (9-12), home-schoolers, current undergraduate and graduate students, and adult learners interested in enrolling in college—will network to learn about college funding options such as scholarships, fellowships, and grant programs from local and national nonprofit foundation representatives.

Financial aid specialists will offer presentations on finding and applying for scholarships and federal aid, and there will be a $500 scholarship raffle.

General admission is free and tickets will be available at the door, but pre-registration is recommended to avoid lines. Register today at www.scholarshipsharing.org.

Focus on Affordability

Virginia Wesleyan has adopted a wide variety of measures to remain affordable and financially support its students. Efforts include freezing tuition and fees for the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 Academic Years; establishment of the Opus on-campus student work program; launching of the Batten Honors College, which fully or partially funds 40 new academically talented students each year; widening access to early- and dual-enrollment programs; and expanding institutional grants and scholarships.

VWU offers competitive financial aid packages and assists students in identifying other sources of aid as well, with 98 percent of students receiving some form of financial assistance. Special discounted tuition is also offered for students in the Evening and Weekend Program and VWU Online, where rates are almost 75 percent less than tuition for traditional day students.
