Winter Arts Showcase

VWU’s Fine Arts program presents a virtual showcase on December 11

Grab a warm cup of hot chocolate and enjoy a virtual Winter Arts Showcase from the Arts at VWU. The Departments of Art, Music, and Theatre will offer the following events on Friday, December 11:

Painting, Drawing, Photography, Sculpture Virtual Gallery, All Day
Join the visual arts students of Professors Sharon Swift, John Rudel, Philip Guilfoyle, and Dr. Joyce Howell, as they present their semester’s work in this virtual art gallery.

VWU Jazz Ensemble, 2:00 p.m.
The VWU Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Jason Squinobal, presents a program of familiar holiday classics and demonstrates the results of multi-track recording brought about by the COVID-19 virus. It's a skill all professional musicians need to master, and these videos emulate the process plus include festive lighting and holiday fun.

Music Major Recital, 3:00 p.m.
Students from all different areas of music perform the works they have been preparing all semester in this recital.

VWU String Ensemble, 4:00 p.m.
Join the Virginia Wesleyan Orchestra, directed by Kelby Schnepel, for performances of works by Mozart, Lauridsen, and Vaughn Williams.

One-Act Play Festival Reprise, 5:00 p.m.
These student-produced (and in many cases, student-written) works, feature the efforts of more than 25 VWU students, under the leadership of Dr. Sally Shedd.

Wesleyan Choirs, A Virtual Wesleyan Christmas, 7:00 p.m.
Join the Wesleyan Camerata and Vox Vera, under the direction of Dr. Bryson Mortensen, for A Virtual Wesleyan Christmas, with traditional carols like “The Holly and the Ivy,” “We Three Kings,” and “A Child is Born.” as well as new carols by Victor Johnson and Mark A. Miller.
