Epworth Campus Ministries

The newly endowed Epworth Campus Ministries will continue Virginia Wesleyan's tradition of welcoming students of all faiths to explore spiritual wellness through worship, fellowship, and service. Monumental Chapel and Beazley Recital Hall serve as the primary home for Campus Ministries, complemented by additional gathering and community space in the Noland Campus Ministries Lounge in the Jane P. Batten Student Center. The program operates as a collaborative ministry of the University and Haygood United Methodist Church, located just minutes away on Wesleyan/Haygood Drive.

At Virginia Wesleyan University, we invite students of all faiths to nurture and enhance their spiritual wellness through learning, growth, and community connection.

Welcome to the Campus Ministries homepage! Exciting things are happening on campus as we come together to worship, grow, and serve. Here, you’ll find everything you need to know about our worship services, small groups, and various ministries.

The Campus Ministries Lounge, located in the Jane P. Batten Student Center, is open whenever the Batten Center is. We welcome students, staff, faculty, and campus visitors to stop by for a warm drink—coffee, tea, hot chocolate—and a never-ending bowl of candy. Relax with friends, study, play a game of chess, unwind on the comfy couches, or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. No matter your background, you’ll always find a friendly and welcoming community in the Campus Ministries Lounge.

Mission Statement

Campus Ministries is a vibrant, inclusive community rooted in faith, where all are welcome to experience the love of God, engage in service, and build meaningful connections both on campus and in the wider community.

Our mission is to offer a Christian, interdenominational ministry that fosters discipleship, evangelism, service, counseling, hospitality, and faith-based education for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the surrounding community of Virginia Wesleyan University. The Director of Campus Ministries, Marie Porter, is also dedicated to supporting students of all faiths, helping them gather, create spaces for worship, and form a sense of community on campus.

Our Vision

To discover God, experience God, and share God’s love with the world.
