Application Process for Attending Secondary Schools

  • Application completed and signed
  • Official transcripts from each secondary school attended, sent directly from that institution to VWU if that school is located within the United States. If the secondary school is located outside of the United States, the applicant must provide an official transcript evaluation report. Applicants are advised to use World Educational Services (WES). The University also accepts evaluation reports from current members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES)
  • All students whose native language is not English must submit proof of English proficiency. Applicants may do so by providing official English-language proficiency test scores with the following scores:
    • Minimum of 550 on the TOEFL written test or 80 on the Internet-based exam
    • Minimum 105 on the Duolingo English Test (DET) 
    • Minimum of 6.5 on the IELTS exam
    • Minimum of 58 on the PTE exam
  • Completed Financial Disclosure Form
  • For the 2022-23 and the 2023-24 application years, Virginia Wesleyan University has adopted a Test Optional admission policy. The submission of standardized test scores is not required for admission to the University, nor to receive a merit scholarship. This policy is for both domestic and international applicants. Applicants who are able to take a standardized test and who feel their test scores reflect their academic ability and potential may submit testing and these scores will be considered during our holistic application review. The CEEB code for Virginia Wesleyan is 5867. The ACT code is 4429.
  • Virginia Wesleyan University requires all students to have health insurance coverage.
    • Students are automatically enrolled, regardless of if they have coverage through their home institution/country.
    • Students may complete an insurance waiver form to request to be exempted from this policy if they have comparable coverage.

Deadlines

It is to the candidate's advantage to send the application and all pertinent credentials for admission to the Center for Enrollment Services prior to June 1 for the fall semester and prior to November 1 for the spring semester.
