The steps below outline our readmission process to help you return to the Marlin family with confidence.

Returning After a Short Absence (Less Than One Calendar Year)

If you've been away from Virginia Wesleyan University for less than one calendar year, your readmission process is outlined below: 

Quick Readmission Process

  1. Complete the Short-Term Absence Return Form
    • This simplified form requires basic information 
    • You can access the form here
    • The form typically takes less than 10 minutes to complete
  2. You can expect to hear directly from the Registrar Office regarding your readmission. 

Returning After an Extended Absence (One Calendar Year or More)

If you've been away from Virginia Wesleyan University for one calendar year or more, you'll need to complete the formal readmission application process. Here's what you need to know:

Full Readmission Application Process

  1. Submit a New Application
    • Complete the Readmission Application through our Admissions portal
    • Access the application here or request assistance at enrollment@vwu.edu
  2. Provide Required Documentation
    • Official transcripts from any colleges or universities attended during your absence
    • Updated contact information and demographic details
  3. Application Review
    • Your application will be reviewed by the Readmission Committee 
    • Processing typically takes 2-3 weeks during peak periods
    • You'll be notified of the decision via phone call, email, and in your admission portal
  4. After Acceptance
    • Meet with an academic advisor to review your degree requirements
    • Develop a new academic plan that accounts for any curriculum changes
    • Confirm decision to enroll with your Enrollment Counselor 

Important Considerations

  • Academic Standing: Previous academic standings may be reassessed based on current policies
  • Financial Aid: You'll need to reapply for financial aid by submitting a new FAFSA
  • Housing: If interested in on-campus housing, submit a new housing application after acceptance
